Our first event of the new chair’s year kicks off at Malmaison, Dundee with Frankie Benison & Sheila Mitchell, Manager of MS Therapy Centre Tayside, our nominated charity, giving an overview of the Charities work and aims for the future.
Our Keynote Speaker, Professor Philip James, Emeritus Professor of Medicine, is one of the UK's foremost experts in the field of Hyperbaric Medicine having spent most of his professional life involved in deep sea diving, where high levels of oxygen are routinely used for brain and spinal cord injuries. It was Professor Jame's work in this area that led him to look at other areas where hyperbaric oxygenation therapy (HBOT) might be of benefit. His book, Oxygen and the Brain, which took him 20 years to write, was published at the end of last year. He passionately believes that (HBOT) can be used to improve the treatment of a range of disorders, from traumatic brain injury to multiple sclerosis (MS) and many chronic conditions including cancer. "Giving more oxygen is not alternative medicine, it is sound science and common sense. There is no substitute for oxygen" says Professor James.
Come along and find out more about our nominated charity's work in this area and why Professor James believes that HBOT is set to define a new era in treating injury and disease.
A two course hot lunch with tea and coffee will follow.
£1 of the ticket cost will be paid to MS Therapy Centre Tayside, our charity for the year.
