What we do

We meet once every month, at lunch time or in the evening. The most prestigious event in our calendar is the Annual Business Awards Dinner held in March.

At our events we endeavour to bring our members relevant content, from Member's Showcase slots to guest speakers, as well as enjoyable networking.

We encourage our members to promote their businesses and organisations through the support network of the group, and look to forge relationships with like-minded organisations to bring additional benefits to our members.

Women Ahead is actively involved in raising money for charity with the Chair choosing a charity each year. Funds raised from raffles at each event are donated to the charity. Our Annual Business Awards Dinner is the main source of fundraising.

In 2013-2014 Women Ahead is raising funds for two charities who support the elderly:

Celebrate Age Network (CAN): They provide information about services available in Dundee for people aged 50+ through their website, leaflets, stalls at relevant events, consultations, conferences and more recently a helpline called Dial-Op. www.dundeecan.org.uk

Contact the Elderly (Cte) Angus area: They tackle acute loneliness and social isolation among older people, aged 75 and above, who live alone, without nearby family and friends, through free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties. www.contact-the-elderly.org.uk/scotland

In 2012-2013 Women Ahead raised funds for Alternatives, Dundee Crisis Pregnancy Trust. Alternatives is a confidential, non directive counselling service for those facing the crisis of unexpected pregnancy, or who have faced trauma following abortion or baby loss.
