Other service activitiesHaving fallen in love with Dundee whilst living and studying in the city I was eager to return, following my departure in 2012.
Following a successful career working with large multi-national companies such as Wood Group, in Houston, TechnipFMC and laterally Raytheon in Fife it was finally the right time to move to Dundee in March 2020.
I was struggling with the ethical and environmental factors of the industries I had been working in and strived for change, wanting the work I was doing to be meaningful and make a difference. Having previously relished working with start-ups as an intern at the Scottish Institute for Enterprise I was keen to once again work with smaller companies in some way to foster growth and acceleration within the area. I have a real passion for helping, guiding and sharing knowledge and was seeking an opening along those intentions. The opportunity of Development Director arose and it ticked the boxes for me.
I joined Carrick Management, a Dundee-based specialist in business improvement in March 2020. The office is located at Dundee One, which for me is perfect having moved in only a few streets away.
Carrick Management are fundamentally entrepreneurial in their approach to creating better outcomes for businesses they work alongside.
We specialise in finding growth solutions for local businesses but are also steeped in experience across the globe. Bringing that international expertise to the local economy is a huge part of our aim; nurturing and developing the talent that already exists and preparing them for the future.
Our approach is simple – we work together with businesses, identifying the areas in which improvements can be made in the areas of culture, structure, strategy and finance. We create the plan together and work tirelessly on implementation as part of your team.
In this, we are prepared to add to your team, or become the interim management for your team. Either way, we are hands-on managers who treat your business as if it was our own. The changes should be identifiable and measurable and we expect to be judged on them. In fact, we will judge ourselves on them.
